Charlene Sanders

Mrs. Charlene Lockhart Sanders, 91, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Perfect Care in Americus, Georgia.

Born on November 4, 1933 in Marian County Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Velma Lockhart. Mrs. Charlene worked many years as a hairdresser and was very hardworking in her business, helping several other hairdressers get started in their careers along the way. She made millions of friends and touched many lives.

Along with her parents, Mrs. Charlene is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Sanders; her siblings, Louise Waldrop, Dot Baxter, Carolyn Willis, Lorrine Kendrick, Kenneth Lockhart, Grady Lockhart, and Danny Lockhart.

She is survived by her sons, Jimmy Sanders (Mitzi), Wendall Sanders (Ruth), and Faron Sanders (Sherry); her daughter, Becky Sellars (Marty); her sisters, Robbie Tippens, and Gay Lang; her grandchildren, Wendy Woodcock (Bob), Jimbo Sanders (Frankie), Carey Lynch (Jimmy), Angie Bell (Chad), Todd Sellars (Jocelyn), Matthew Sanders (Kaley), Mandy Alford (David), Jody Sellars (Kasey), Justin Sanders; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held for Mrs. Charlene on Thursday, February 6, at Oak Grove Cemetery beginning at 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, February 5, between the hours of 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the home of Wendell and Ruth Sanders, 120 Old Stage Road, Andersonville, Georgia.

The family requests that former hairdressers who worked with Mrs. Charlene serve as Honorary Pallbearers during the service.
