Christopher Drowne Coakley

September 27, 1964 — March 18, 2023

Christopher Drowne Coakley was born September 27, 1964 in Portland, Maine and passed away March 18, 2023 in Americus, Georgia. Chris loved working in his garden, picking pecans, and most importantly, his family. He was, in his words, retired and loved every minute of it. Chris would do anything to help someone in need and was fiercely loyal to those he loved. After serving in the United States Air Force, he chose long haul trucking as his vocation and earned several commendations from the companies where he worked, going above and beyond to help other travelers in need across the United States. Chris is survived by his sister Claire; his nieces Ashley and Courtney; great-nieces Joanna and Callie; great-nephews Thomas, Arthur, and Oliver; cousins Carol and Gloria; and his very important and loving DeSoto family of Kelbey Ziegenhain, Gracey Ziegenhain-Thomas, Kalyn Teal, and Stacey Ziegenhain. A memorial service is planned for 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Wendy Peacock officiating.
