Mrs. Edna Mae Wise Hendricks, age 93, passed away early Thursday morning, August 30, 2018 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 1, at Central Baptist Church, with Dr. Bryan Myers officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 10:00 & 11:00 AM at the church on Saturday. A private entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.A native and life-long resident of Sumter County, she was born January 26, 1925 in Plains, a daughter of the late Luther Alonzo Wise and the late Ella May Shirley Wise.Mrs. Edna Mae was retired as a bookkeeper from Manhattan Shirt Company and then from IMC Fertilizer. She loved to serve others, in her church and her family. She was involved in almost every meal and was known as "the cookie lady" and "the cheese straw lady". She was a very active member of Central Baptist Church where she also served in the church library.She had a servant's heart, as a long-time member of the Pink Ladies and the Order of the Eastern Star, and volunteering at the Rylander Theatre and Sam's Shortline Railroad.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Reese Hendricks; and siblings: P.J. Wise, Sarah Wise Harris, and Morgan Wise. Survivors include one son, Jim Hendricks (Kathe) of Beaumont, TX; grandchildren: Jay Kevin Hendricks, Carin Juanice Hendricks, and Josh Campbell Hendricks (Erin); great-grandchildren: Ashlie Huckaby, Sydney Hendricks, and Katie Hendricks; one brother, Billy Dan Wise of Brunswick; one sister, life-long best friend, and constant companion, Betty W.
