Mrs. Elizabeth Law Smith, age 94, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center in Americus.Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 5, at Bethel Baptist Church in Sumter County. Rev. Steven Golden will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Americus.The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, April 4, from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., and at other times at the home of Shirley Bell on Bumphead Rd.Mrs. Smith was born in Macon County on October 27, 1923, a daughter of the late Horace Hampton Law and the late Lillie Belle Clark Law.She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Odell Smith; a sister: Audrey Bell Law Smith and her husband Dennis; a son-in-law, Grady Bell, and grandchildren: Kathy Weaver, Michael Bell, Angie Widener Bishop, and Chad Smith. Survivors include her son: David Smith (Beth); daughter: Shirley Bell; brother: James Law (Lillian); grandchildren:  Roger Bell (Vicki), Donnie Bell, Brenda Vartenisian; and great-grandchildren: Heath Bell (Meredith), Candice Jones (John), Shane Bell (Debra), Jeramey Bell, Jonathan Mitchell, Jessica Mitchell, and Shannon French.A longtime member of Bethel Baptist Church, Mrs. Smith was involved in Sunday School for 51 years.
