Evelyn Adams Perry, age 92 of Americus, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Sumter Retirement Village in Plains, GA. Visitation will be held at Hancock Funeral Home on South Lee Street at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 11, with a graveside service to follow at 2:30 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery. Rev. Steven Wright will officiate the service. Honorary pall bearers include her compassionate and attentive caregivers who sat with her for many years prior to her death and Scott Phillips, a long-time, dedicated employee of Perry Plumbing Company. Evelyn Adams Perry was born to Albert Roscoe and Ina Key Adams on October 27, 1930 in Leslie. She graduated from Crandall Business College in 1949 after receiving her diploma at Union High School in 1947. She was a life-long member of Central Baptist Church where her mother-in-law, Marion Perry, played the piano for many years. She started Perry Plumbing Company in 1957 with her husband and they maintained the business for over sixty years. In addition to acting as the Company’s Bookkeeper, she owned and managed rental property throughout Sumter County for many decades. She prided herself on delivering exceptional customer service to all those who sought out their services. She was a true Southern lady who loved her family and community. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Survivors include her devoted daughter, Linda Singleton (Stan) of Americus, her doting granddaughters, Stephanie Bennett (Blake) of Lake Blackshear and Robin Hardin (Brad Fender) of Americus. She was also blessed to know and love her great grandchildren, Carson Clements, Perry Bennett, and Bo Hardin for many years. Her caregivers included Beverly McCrary, Betty Newsome, Tosha Newsome, Yolanda Carter, Christy Robinson, Stacy Scott, Ida Lampkins, Kelita Davis, Melinda Moore, Ny Ny White, and Rhonda Lundy. Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving and supportive husband of seventy-two years, Lynn Perry, her parents Albert Roscoe Adams and Ina Key Adams, three brothers, Charles Adams, Albert Adams, Elton Adams, and a sister, Ruth Adams Kirk.
