Mrs. Florence Harris Blanton, age 90, passed away on Sunday morning, January 23, 2022 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 26, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Michael Truitt officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 PM on Wednesday at Hancock Funeral Home. Burial will be private in Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Born September 4, 1931 in Webster County, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Harris and the late Willie Lee Cooper Harris. Mrs. Blanton was a homemaker and a member of Plains Baptist Church and Plains Garden Club, and she enjoyed square dancing. She was a Pink Lady for 20 years at Palmyra Park Hospital in Albany, and in one of those years was named Volunteer of the Year. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Loren Blanton; by her brothers and sister: Bill Harris, Marvin Harris, and June Turner; and by her grandson, James Blanton. Survivors include her children: Yvonne Blanton Mackey (Craig) and J. Ellis Blanton; grandchildren: Shawn Blanton (Alicia), Melody Mackey LaRue, and Ginger Mackey Nairn (Jeremy); great-grandchildren: Ellis Blanton, Hollis Blanton, Renee Anne Blanton, Hannah Swader, Tasha LaRue, Connor LaRue, Jacob Nairn, Matthew Nairn, and Bethany Nairn; brothers & sister: Ben Harris, Howard Harris, and Virginia Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
