Mrs. Frances Shutters Harris, age 85, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Services are planned for 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 25, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Dr. Dennis Stalvey officiating. The family will receive friends between the hours of 10:00 & 11:00 on Thursday at Hancock Funeral Home. Private interment will follow at a later date in Friendship Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Morningside United Methodist Church, 1207 Crawford Street, Americus, GA 31709. Born December 2, 1933 in Jackson County, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late James Gilbert Shutters and the late Louise Bradford Shutters. Mrs. Harris was retired from Manhattan Shirt Company, and was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the Manhattan Quilting Club. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, and loved flowers. Survivors include her children: John E. Harris and his wife Tanya, and LouAnn H. Lardy and her husband Michael; brother and sisters: Cecil Shutters and his wife Yvonne, Bonnie S. Kendrick and her husband Clayton, Hazel Harbuck and her husband Billy, and Gladys S. Andrews and her husband Chuck; two grandchildren: Matthew Lardy and Grace Lardy; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Eugene Harris; and by two brothers: James Gilbert Shutters, Jr. and W. Raymond Shutters.
