Frances Owens Moon

Frances Owens Moon, 97, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Central Baptist Church, with Dr. Bryan Myers and Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating.  A private burial will be held.  The following grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Chuck Reeves, Chan Reeves, Charles Ray Sheffield, Bob Woodcock, Jimmy Lynch, Danny Moon, and Frank Baldridge.  The following great-grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers: Charles Sheffield, Chase Reeves, Reeves Sheffield, Tripp Lynch, Danny Moon II, and Aiden Baldridge. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the home of Ruth and Wendall Sanders, 120 Old Stage Road, Andersonville, GA. Mrs. Moon was born in Marion County, Georgia on August 2, 1921, a daughter of David Lee and Dorothy Key Owens.  She graduated from the Marion County School System.  Mrs. Moon retired from Manhattan Shirt Company in 1985 after 47 years of service.  She later worked as a sitter at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center, then received her Certified Nursing Certificate and worked at the Mattie Marshall Center as a CNA.  Mrs. Moon completed her working life in March, 2018 at 96 years of age.  She was very active at Central Baptist Church where she became a member in 1939.  She has remained an active member of the Kathleen Gardner Sunday School class until her death. Survivors include 3 children: Kay Moon Reeves (Charles), Jack Britton Moon (Karen), and Ruth Moon Sanders (Wendall).  She had 10 grandchildren: Rita Reeves Sheffield (Charles Ray), Chuck Reeves (Dolly), Chan Reeves, Wendy Sanders Woodcock (Bob), Carey Sanders Lynch (Jimmy), Danny Moon, Dawn Moon Baldridge (Frank), Kelly Moon, Tina Shepherd Kingston, and Rick Shepherd. She had 22 great-grandchildren: Ann Elizabeth Reeves, Chase Reeves, Charles Sheffield, Reeves Sheffield, Frances Kay Sheffield, Chanley Reeves, Riley Reeves, Taylor Reeves, Carlton Woodcock, Carey Woodcock, Tripp Lynch, Sarah Lane Lynch, Skyler Moon, Marisa Baldridge, Storm Baldridge, Aiden Baldridge, Keillie Parker, Andrew Kingston, Christopher Kingston, Cameron Shepherd, and Brenden Barber.  She is also survived by a brother, James Edward Owens; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Watson Moon, Jr.; her parents; and four brothers and sisters: Grace Theus, Louise Mulkey, Alvin Owens, and Virginia Bradley.
