Gary James Gilbert

Gary James Gilbert, 63, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home in Americus, Georgia.

Born on July 9, 1961 in Americus, Georgia, he was the son of the late Billy Joe Gilbert and Mildred Luvin. Gary enjoyed camping, fishing, and was a history buff as well as an avid sports fan, especially the Atlanta Braves. After attending Plains High School, he went into the National Guard and served for several years.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Luvin; his brother, Mark Gilbert; his sisters, Paula Crook (John) and Richelle Bivins (Tye); and his brother, Lance Luvin; two special nephews, Jay Gilbert and Justin Gilbert, as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Along with his father, Gary is preceded in death by his stepfather, George R. Luvin; and his grandparents, James and Opal Henderson and Joe and Lois Gilbert.

Funeral services will be private.
