Gladys Sutton Stewart

Mrs. Gladys Sutton Stewart, age 93, passed away on Thursday evening, November 28, 2024 at The Gardens at Calvary in Columbus. 

Funeral services are planned for 11:30 AM on Monday, December 2, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Chaplain Neil Stevens officiating, and visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. 

Born April 29, 1931 in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late Hubert R. Jordan and the late Lura B. Jordan. Mrs. Gladys was a loving home maker and mother, and enjoyed Bible study and watching the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles F. Sutton and William L. Stewart; by two daughters: Peggy Sutton Davies and Susan Sutton Standridge; two sisters: Gloria Brown and Betty Sue Conn; and one brother Robert W. Jordan.

Survivors include her daughter Kathy Sutton Vann (Larry); son Charles Leon Standridge; step-daughter Sherry Stewart Baker (Thomas); step-son Bill Stewart (Cindy Tallman); sister Faye McCrary (Nelson); brother Gene Jordan; grandchildren: Vicky Paul (Keith), Maggie Standridge, Abby Sosinski, and Cailee Standridge; great-grandchildren: Luke Paul and Libby Paul; and several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
