Harriet Roebuck Elliott

July 31, 1944 — December 27, 2023

Harriet Virginia (Roebuck) Elliott, age 79, passed away on Wednesday evening, December 27, 2023 at her home in Americus. Born in Americus, Georgia on July 31, 1944, she was a daughter of the late A.D. and Odice Roebuck. Mrs. Elliott called Americus home most of her life, during which she worked as a homemaker, in retail, in civil service, and she also owned and operated several small businesses. She loved to sing and dance, play cards, build her MANY collections, write poetry, and play Pacman. She loved to laugh and had a beautiful smile. “Mama” to three of her own, “Gram” to six, “Great Gram” to eight, and the baby of seven-made her part of big family. Among her other accomplishments and aspirations, it was as a part of this big family that she found her greatest joy and purpose in life. She loved to find just the right gift for a niece, add a car to a great nephew’s collection, write letters and send cards-just because, spoil grandchildren, play video games with her only grandson, make jelly with her mama, and talk, laugh, and reminisce for hours with cousins and sisters and brothers. She opened her home to family members in need. She loved and served her family, the immediate and extended, until the day she died and deeply lamented the passing of those who preceded her in death. By the grace of God, today, she is reunited with those loved ones she longed so desperately to see again. The funeral service for Mrs. Elliott will be held, Saturday, December 30th at 11:00 a.m. at Shema Baptist Church in Ellaville, Georgia, with Brother Troy Fripp officiating. The family will receive visitors preceding the service at 10:00 a.m. in the same location. Mrs. Elliott will be laid to rest with her husband during a private service at Andersonville National Cemetery at a later date. Survivors include her children, Anthony White (Linda), of Americus and their daughters, Erin and Rebecca; Lynn Register (Wade), of Ellaville and their children, Charley, Marisa, Whitney, Gabrielle, Oliva, and Tina Cook (Robert), of Americus, and their daughters, Allison and Audra, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Elliott, Jr., her infant son Ricky, her parents, A.D. and Odice Roebuck, her siblings, A.D. (Bubber) Roebuck, Jr., Elton Roebuck (Florine), Margie McCloud, Doris Lowery (Claude), Willie Ruth Sims (H.J.-Beau), and Oscar Roebuck, and her precious grandson, Cole Varnum.
