Hazel Moore Cannon, age 94, of DeSoto, Georgia, passed away on October 7, 2022 after an extended illness under the care of Reflections Hospice and Cordele Health and Rehab. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 11, from the graveside in DeSoto Cemetery, with Rev. Mike Davis and Rev. Brenda Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM on Tuesday in the fellowship hall at DeSoto Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Green Berry Moore and Birdie Singletary Moore. She was the wife of the late Joe Clark Cannon. Mrs. Cannon was predeceased by a granddaughter, Candi Cannon Ramos; by her siblings: Ruby Houston, Florine Mathis, Ella Green Grooms, Birdie Mae Forehand, GB Moore, Suber Moore, and Velma Freeman; and by a son-in-law, Robert Ziegenhain. Mrs. Cannon leaves her children: Karyn Ziegenhain, John (Glenda) Cannon, and Joelyn (Martin) Bell; grandchildren: Stacey Ziegenhain, Kay Dee (JD) McGuire, Tina Ziegenhain, Christopher (Misty) Cannon, Spence (Barbara) Cannon, Melissa (Chad) Thomas, Kristin (Jay) Boatright, and Alex (Ashley) Bell; eighteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cannon was a graduate of Cordele High School where she played the French horn in the band. After high school, she graduated from business school in Macon, Georgia, and had a long career as a bookkeeper. She was a faithful member of DeSoto Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and other missions. She took up clogging in her sixties and performed with the Muckalee Mudstompers. She enjoyed traveling and took trips well into her seventies. In her leisure time, she enjoyed her plants, puzzles and reading.
