Mr. Jack P. Smith, Sr. passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at his home in Smithville, one day shy of his 86th birthday. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 9, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Mr. Smith was retired from the Georgia State Department of Agriculture as a warehouse inspector. He owned and operated the Phillips 66 Station in Smithville, and served three terms as the Mayor of Smithville. He dearly loved the town of Smithville and was very involved with the Smithville Improvement Group and the Smithville Chicken Pie Festival, and was a member of the Smithville Baptist Church and the Smithville Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane W. Smith; and by his son, Jamie Bruce Smith. Survivors include his wife, Linda Joyce Smith; children: Jack Phelix Smith, Jr. "Rusty" (Rene), Anna Maria Smith Cudd (Ronnie), Lynn M. Bailey, and David W. McLemore; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions may be made to Smithville United Methodist Church, P.O.
