Mary Jane Murray Bartlett

Ms. Mary Jane Murray Bartlett, age 84, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, July 16th at the home of Eric & Jennifer English, 217 GA Hwy 49 South. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Monday at Hancock Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Pastor Chuck Poplin officiating and Pastor Rodney Powe providing musical accompaniment. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Cemetery. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Cory Becker, Andrew Lanier, Trent Fonda, Michael Murray, Eric English, and Caleb Johnson. Born March 29, 1939 in Oglethorpe, she was a daughter of the late Marie Stewart Murray. Ms. Bartlett retired after 34 years as a social worker for the State of Georgia. She poured her life into a career that she loved. She loved cooking and was a very giving person to everyone she knew. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Leslie Baptist Church. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Sandra Tye and a granddaughter, Katie Rushing. Survivors include two daughters: Melanie Rushing (Ronnie) and Sherry Poplin (Chuck); grandchildren: Kristin Rushing, Jennifer English (Eric), Kaylie Becker (Cory), Brittany Lanier (Andrew), and Amanda Poplin; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Londyn, Chaz, Caroline, Amelia, Jordan, Rylynn, and Selvi; one brother, Robert Murray (Betty Jean).
