On November 26, 2022, Jeanne Clanton Prosser went to be with the Lord after a long, loving and rewarding life. Jeanne was born on December 18, 1927, in Lanier, Georgia where she spent her younger years until the family later moved to Savannah, Georgia. There the southern belle met, fell in love with and married a young, handsome Army airman, Homer J. “Bud” Prosser of Buckner, Missouri where the young couple soon resided. She was the youngest daughter of Ralph Lorin Clanton, Sr. and Claire Dewberry Clanton. Jeanne was always active in church activities. Whether singing in the choir, or teaching Sunday school she was a strong soldier for Christ. She attended the Central Baptist Church of Americus, Georgia until she once again moved back to Missouri where she attended the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit. Jeanne was first and foremost a wife, a mother, and a homemaker. After her children were all in school, she worked many retail and bookkeeping jobs including Shiver Lumber Company of Americus, Georgia. For the past 15 years Jeanne lived in John Knox Village in Lee’s Summit, Missouri where she enjoyed many activities and her many friends that she’d made there. She leaves behind a daughter, Linda G. Walker and a son, Steven W. Prosser, a son-in- law, Dale A. Walker all of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and a daughter-in-law Sachiko K. Prosser of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one great, great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeanne was preceded in death by her husband, Homer J. “Bud” Prosser, her son David Michael Prosser, daughter-in-law, Vickie Ann Prosser, great grandson Christian Prosser, sisters Shirley Clanton McNeilly and Betty Clanton Moyd, her brother Ralph Lorin Clanton, Jr. and her sister-in-law Alice Weeks Clanton. Visitation and service will be held at 10:00am on March 10, 2023 at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with interment to follow in the national cemetery at Andersonville National Historic Site at 12:00pm. Honorary pallbearers include Harold Jacobs, Jim Moyd, Bill Moyd, Bobby McNeilly, Bucky Clanton, Jeremy Prosser, Shawn Prosser and Bryan Holman.
