John David Allen

Mr. John David Allen, age 69, passed away on Sunday evening, October 17, 2021 at Columbus Specialty Hospital. Funeral services are planned for 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 23, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Dr. Bryan Myers officiating. Private interment will follow. The staff of Hancock Funeral Home would like to issue a gentle reminder to all attendees that, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reasonable social distancing should be maintained at all times, and the use of face masks is recommended. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, GA 31719; or to The Americus Lions Club, P.O. Box 313, Americus, GA 31709. Mr. Allen was employed as an offshore oil field chef, and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Americus Lions Club, but as a Zone Chairman, he worked with several Lions Clubs, including the Plains Lions Club. He is survived by loving family and friends.
