John Harland "Bud" Norton

John Harland "Bud" Norton, age 44, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Services are planned for 6:00 PM on Friday, December 9, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. with Rev. Chris Hess officiating. The family will receive friends following the services. Burial will be private. Bud was born October 24, 1978 in Americus to Mary Elizabeth Norton and Rodney Stewart. He was employed as a tree topper, having worked for Harper's Tree and Stump Removal, Potters Tree Service, and Infinity Landscape and Tree Service. He had also worked for Perry Brothers Oil Company and Advanced Cleaners and was experienced in MIG welding. He truly enjoyed working, and also fishing, grilling, going to the lake, traveling, especially to the mountains and the beach, old cars, antiques, hot rods, and listening to good music. He was of the Christian faith. Preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Norton Bowden, Bud is survived by his children: Meaghan Norton (John Ratliff), Caitlin Cowart, Gabe Norton, Nikki Norton, Grayson Reid, Riley Norton, Bella Norton, and Lilly Norton; his father, Rodney Stewart; sister Shanna Stewart; uncle Donnie Norton (Susan), aunt Becky Norton (Phillip), aunt Lisa Maurer; nephews and niece: David, Daniel, and Myra; several cousins; and many friends.
