Mr. John Lewis McCord, age 67, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Services are planned for 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, with Rev. Bud Womack officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Saturday at Hancock Funeral Home. Born January 10, 1953 in Americus, he was a son of the late Daniel Lynn McCord, Sr. and Alice S. Wanstall who survives him. He was retired from the Georgia State Patrol, was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his daughter, Stephanie McCord (Michael Powell); one brother, Daniel Lynn McCord; one sister, Kim Nutt (James), niece and nephew, Angela Bolton and James Bolton; and his beloved dog Rex. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Tissue; and by his beloved dog Jack.
