Joyce Cheek Dunmon

Mrs. Joyce Cheek Dunmon, age 81, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at The Orchard at Stone Creek in Hahira. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 7, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Hugh Harbort officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church. Born January 8, 1941 in Americus, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Cheek. Mrs. Dunmon was a very active member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she served as choir director for 30 years. She was retired after 34 years as a nursing instructor at South Georgia Technical College. In her spare time, she enjoyed cross stitching and china painting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harold "Hal" Dunmon; and by two sisters. Survivors include her son, Charles H. Dunmon, Jr. (Suzie); her daughter, Dana Dunmon Hernandez (Richard); four grandchildren: Dillon Hernandez, Kaleigh Hernandez, Charlie Dunmon, and Danielle Dunmon; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Dunmon loved flowers, and the family welcomes them, but for those wishing to do so, memorial contributions are suggested to Shiloh Baptist Church, 961 Shiloh Road, Americus, GA 31719.
