Dr. Lamar J. Myers, age 90, passed away on Sunday evening, September 25, 2022, at his home in Americus. He was born in Quitman, Georgia in Brooks County on August 21, 1932. At an early age, his family moved to Albany, where he attended public schools, graduating from Albany High School in 1950. He studied at the University of Georgia and, upon application to Emory University School of Dentistry, was accepted and graduated with the class of 1957. Upon graduation, Dr. Myers served in the U.S. Army Dental Corps for three years. Afterwards he entered an Oral and Maxillo Facial Surgery training program for three years. Following this, he established a practice in Albany in 1965. In 1975, he entered into a partnership practice with Dr. Marvin "Mel" Allen, until Dr. Myers' retirement in 1995. He described this partnership as "the pinacle of a professional practice - the best!" Dr. Myers was preceded in death by his parents Lottie & Robert "Bob" Myers and by an uncle Austin Seay. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet "Jane" Myers, to whom he was married in 1982; and their daughter and son-in-law, Merritt and Scott Wall of Valdosta.
