Mr. Larry Julian Cromer, age 67, passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019, at his home in Cordele. Funeral services are planned for 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 24, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Damon Fountain and Rev. Max Rodgers officiating. Private interment will follow at a later time. The family will receive friends on Sunday between the hours of 2:00 and 3:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home. A native of Americus, he was born October 23, 1951, son of the late Julian Clovis Cromer and the late Mary Annette Hand Cromer. Mr. Cromer was retired as a conductor for CSX Railroad. He was a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church in Cordele, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching Gunsmoke. He was an avid animal lover, and in keeping with such, for those wishing to do so, memorial contributions in Larry's memory are suggested to the Cordele Animal Shelter, 721 Perimeter Road, Cordele, GA 31015; or to the Sumter Humane Society, 108 Industrial Blvd., Americus, GA 31709. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Dottie Tison Cromer. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Jones Cromer of Cordele; three sons: Dendy Cromer (Terrah) of DeSoto, Jody Cromer (Sian) of DeSoto, and Kerry Cromer of Akron, OH; three step-children: Chuck Payne of Leslie, Trey Wall of Vienna, and Laura Taunton (Wesley) of Cordele; mother in law: Mildred Jones of Americus; five grandchildren: Paiton Cromer, Bailey Cromer, Taylor Cromer, Kaitlyn Cromer, and Gavin Cromer; four step-grandchildren: Layne Taunton, Landon Taunton, Samantha Taunton, and William Wall; and his three furbabies: Sparky, Barney, and Patty. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the physical therapists who were also great friends and helped Larry through some of his most difficult days.
