Mr. Larry Smith, age 68, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 3:00 Wednesday, January 26, from the graveside at Smith Cemetery, 598 Brock Road, Arabi, GA 31712, with Rev. Jonathan Beckum officiating. Born July 16, 1953 in Tifton, he was a son of the late Julian Smith and Wynette Odom Smith who survives him. He was a 1971 graduate of Crisp County High School and a 1978 graduate of Southern Polytechnic College. Mr. Smith was retired after 43 years with Georgia Power, and was a member of the Montezuma United Methodist Church. At the time of his death, had served as Mayor of Montezuma for six years. Survivors include his wife, Laura Findlater Smith; three daughters: Leslie Smith Scott (Kevin), Lindsey Smith Holmquest (Corey), and Lauren Smith Morrison (Michael); grandchildren: Nathanael and Madeline Scott, Chandler and Charlotte Morrison, and Robert "Beau" Holmquist; his mother, Wynette Odom Smith; his sister, Anita Smith Dailey (Bob); and several cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations to Montezuma United Methodist Church, 201 N.
