Mr. Laurence William "Larry" Kobs, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at the Augusta VA Medical Center. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, in Central Baptist Church with Dr. Bryan Myers and Rev. Hugh DeLoach officiating. The family will visit with friends and relatives in the foyer of the church for an hour preceding the service. Born August 18, 1945 in Los Angeles, CA, Mr. Kobs was a son of the late William Kobs and Dixie Agnes Roberts Kobs. He served with the U.S. Army and was later a member of the USAR control group standby. An electrician by trade, he retired from King Custom builders. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Americus Lions Club, the VFW, and the American Legion. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virginia McNeilly Kobs, of Americus; daughters, Tonya Ann Byrd and Billy, of Polk City , FL, Dr. Karen Lynn Hancock and Chip of Leesburg, GA; sons, Matthew A. Morris and Katrina, of Melba, Idaho, Thomas Burt Kobs and Heather of Andersonville, GA, and Terry Charles Kobs and Tracy of Leesburg, GA; a sister, Karan Albritton and Ronnie, of Americus; a brother, William B. (Billy) Kobs of Jackson, GA; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, three aunts, Judy Schmeier of Washington, Freida Heckmann of Wisconsin, and Jeanne Prosser of Missouri; and a number of nieces and nephews. A sister, Rebecca Ann Kobs, preceded him in death.
