Lilian Lopez

Lilian Lattke Lopez, age 85, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024. A formal mass will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of life at Noon, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Americus, GA.

Lilian was born on December 18, 1938, in Cali, Colombia, to the late Eric and Ellen Lattke. She was married to the late Augusto Lopez for 55 years. They had four children: Connie Gomez (David), Freddy Lopez (Nancy), David Lopez, and Daniel Lopez (Sherry). Lilian had 11 grandchildren: Christina, Daniel, Stefanie, Adam, Eric, Meagan, Gracie, Alex, Lyle, Anna Lee, and Mary Frances. She also had five great-grandchildren: Lily, Luna, Lark, Leonardo, and Natalia.

Lilian was an angel on Earth, and now she has earned her wings in Heaven. She welcomed everyone with open arms, her home always a sanctuary for those in need. Her selflessness knew no bounds, always ready to lend a hand whenever it was needed. Lilian’s home became known as "Hotel Lopez," a testament to her boundless hospitality where there was never a stranger, only friends yet to be made.

Lilian was a cook second to none, filling our lives and our stomachs with delicious meals and unforgettable flavors. Her love for dance, especially to her favorite cumbia, brought joy and light to all who knew her. She was reliable and considerate, embodying the essence of kindness and dependability.

Lilian was not just a mother to her children; she was a mother to all. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love touched countless lives. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of everyone she welcomed, helped, and loved. She was truly an angel, and her legacy of love and compassion will never be forgotten.
