Lola Lucas Landrum

March 7, 1920 — September 8, 2021

Mrs. Lola Lucas Landrum (nee McDaniel), age 101, and Americus resident since 1979, passed away at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center on Wednesday, September 8, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 resurgence, all immediate services and burial will be private. A memorial service will be planned and announced later. Lola was born March 7, 1920 in New Smyrna Beach, FL, and was a 1938 graduate of the NSBHS. She furthered her education at Stetson University with a degree in Music. After graduation, life led her to Atlanta, GA where she was employed with the Bell Company. She also was a pianist for both the Bell and Coca Cola Companies' choral groups. Her first husband, James Edward Lucas, Jr., was introduced to Lola and they were married in the West End Church of Christ where Lola was a member. Lola and Jim moved from Atlanta to Clewiston, FL to begin their life together and his career with the Army Corps of Engineers. During their time in Clewiston, two children were added to their union. After Jim Lucas' death in 1965, she moved back to New Smyrna to raise her two small children with the aid of her parents. In 1971 she met and married Oscar Curtis "O.C." Landrum, a minister for the Church of Christ. During her marriage to O.C., their journey took them from Ocoee, FL to Valdosta, and finally Americus, GA where they worked together serving congregations of the Church of Christ. Lola's interests spanned greatly, but first and foremost "The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Her daily Bible readings and her willingness to share the gospel with anyone who would listen was her testimony. Her other interests included sewing, bird watching, flowers, and the Atlanta Braves. She was a faithful member of Williams Road Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; by a son, Van Neil Landrum; by a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin Dale and Janie McDaniel; and by a sister, Jeanette Fisher. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Gabe and Janice Landrum of Richmond, VA and Eddie Lucas and Dr. Linda D. Stribling Pharm D. of Lagrange, GA; daughter, Mandi Lucas of Jacksonville, FL; daughter-in-law, LuAnn Seale; grandchildren: Matt and Linda Landrum, Gary and Missy Landrum, Katie Martandale, Curt Landrum; several nieces and nephews; and the extended Landrum family of Laurel, MS. The family respectfully requests that floral tributes, including potted arrangements, be omitted.
