Marlene Sanders Dozier

Mrs. Marlene Sanders Dozier, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services are planned for 3:00 PM on Friday, March 24, at Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Buck Kinney officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Robbie Welch, Linton Welch, Jimmy Byrd, Mark Shutters, Jeff Hall, and Chip Evans. The family asks that all Bob Dodson Road neighbors serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 2:00 PM at Plains Baptist Church, and throughout the weekend at Mrs. Marlene's home on Bob Dodson Road in Plains. Born February 5, 1943 in Marion County, she was a daughter of the late Grover Sanders and the late Bessie Welch Sanders. Mrs. Marlene was a home maker, and a wonderful cook. She ran the cafeteria at Southland Academy and was co-owner of Kountry Korner Restaurant in Plains. She enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball and loved gardening and flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Clyde Dozier, Jr. She is survived by her children: Marvin Dozier (Judie) and Darlene Hobbs (Scott); her grandchildren: Phillip Dozier (Brittany Underwood), Katelyn Hobbs, and Emily Hobbs; and a host of nieces and nephews.
