Martha "Betty" Tye Jones

Mrs. Martha "Betty" Tye Jones, age 91, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Friday, April 22, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Daryl Brown officiating. A private interment will follow in Cedar Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday morning at Hancock Funeral Home, between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00 AM. Born October 21, 1930 in Americus, she was a daughter of the late Melvin L. Tye and the late Martha Wall Tye Wright. Mrs. Jones was a current member of First United Methodist Church of Americus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack L. Jones; by her son, Rolin C. Jones; a grandchild, Lee Jones; two brothers: Leon Tye and Donald Tye (Cynthia); and by a sister, Joyce Downs (Fred). Survivors include her son, Larry L. Jones (Mary Jo); daughter-in-law, Amelia Jones; brother, David Tye (Elizabeth); sister-in-law, Barbara Tye; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
