Mrs. Martha Jossey Montgomery, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Perfect Care. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 30, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Rev. Betty Lee Scott officiating. Private interment will be held on Monday, December 2, in Andersonville National Cemetery. A native of Americus, she was born February 20, 1926, daughter of the late Lamar C. Jossey and the late Ethel Roberts Jossey. Mrs. Montgomery was a mother, a home maker, and a volunteer. She was a charter member of the Surfside Garden Club in Cocoa Beach, FL; a volunteer with Military Family Services in Mobile, AL; a member of the Americus Hospital Auxiliary; the Patrick Air Force Base Officers' Wives Club; Cocoa Beach Women's Club; and Cocoa Beach Women's Golf Club. She loved playing bridge and golf. Mrs. Montgomery was a member of Lee Street United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Marsh Business School in Atlanta. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Retired Lt. Colonel USAF and World War II veteran, William Edwin "Bill" Montgomery; and two brothers: Lamar Jossey, Jr. and Joe Jossey. Survivors include her sons: William Gary Montgomery of Royse City, TX and Glenn Stewart Montgomery of Atlanta; grandchildren: Mark Montgomery, Derek Montgomery, Jonathan Montgomery, and Heather Bell; great-grandchildren: Ashleigh Bell, Matthew Montgomery, and Madeline Montgomery; sister-in-law, Alma Jossey of Americus; and niece and nephews, Jennifer Jossey, Melvin Jossey, and Pat Jossey.
