Mrs. Mary McCleskey Ryscavage, age 85, passed away on Friday, August 14, 2020 at Garrett Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Maryland. A private service is planned for Saturday, October 3, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery. In light of COVID-19, the graveside service will be for immediate family only. Born December 2, 1934 in Americus, she was a daughter of the late Jefferson Lamar McCleskey and the late Bernice McArthur McCleskey. She was a retired school teacher having worked in the Garrett County School System in Maryland. She had been a member of Central Baptist Church in Americus, and was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and of the American Association of University Women. Survivors include her husband, Jerome James "Jerry" Ryscavage; two daughters: Kathryn Anne Ryscavage Tillack (Robert) and Susan Benton Ryscavage McCullouch (Brent); one son, Jefferson Lamar McCleskey Ryscavage (Alison); and five grandchildren: Jefferson McArthur Ryscavage, Alexander James Ryscavage, Kathryn Benton McCullouch, John Murry McCullouch, and Boyd James McCullouch. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 8931 Garrett Highway, Oakland, Maryland 21550; or to Manteo Baptist Church, 406 US Highway 64, Manteo, North Carolina 27954. Mary was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and was a winter regular at Manteo Baptist Church.
