Mary Parker Bridges

Mrs. Mary Parker Bridges, age 95, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Private graveside funeral services will be held at Harmony Cemetery in Richland with Rev. Justin Frederick officiating. Born June 16, 1925 in Bainbridge, she was the daughter of the late Clinton Knox Parker and the late Annie Kathleen Carter Parker. She worked as the head cashier and bookkeeper for Colonial Stores and Big Star grocery stores. She was a member of Richland First Baptist Church and a previous member of the Eastwood Baptist Church in Columbus. She was a member of the DAR and was previously active in garden club work and the CB Radio Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Marvin Bridges; her brother, James Parker; and two sons-in-law: Donald J. Pegg and Danny J. Mitchell. Survivors include two daughters: Anne P. Bennett (George) of Richland and Peggy S. Mitchell of Richland; sister-in-law, Louise Eiken of Sun City Center, Florida; 9 grandchildren; 26 great-granchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
