Miss Mildred Wise, age 100, passed away on Wednesday evening, June 3, 2020 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from the graveside at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains. Rev. Jeremy Wise will officiate. There will be no visitation, though the family will be glad to speak with friends at the graveside on Saturday. Flowers are welcomed, and for those wishing to do so, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 304 S. Bond Street, Plains, GA 31780. Miss Wise was born January 14, 1920 in Plains, one of nine children born to the late Walter James Wise and the late Myrtle Ruth Crawford Wise. She was employed for 26 years at Manhattan Shirt Company, serving as a supervisor during some of those years. She then worked for 16 years at Sumter Regional Hospital in the dietary department office. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Plains. Miss Wise enjoyed all kinds of arts and crafts, and crocheted and quilted for family and friends. She enjoyed exchanging flowers (giving and receiving) with those she loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Carrie Wise of Plains; several nieces and nephews, including those local: Jerry Wise, Brenda Robertson, Cheryle McCrary, and Helen Ricketts; and several great-nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.
