Mrs. Myra Knight Hogsed, age 87, passed away on Monday morning, May 16, 2022, at Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA. Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 21st, from the graveside at Lebanon Cemetery with Pastor R.T. Beverly officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 20th, between the hours of 5:00 & 7:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born August 3, 1934 in Woodbury Ga, she was a daughter of the late James Edward Knight and the late Bessie Newman Knight. A graduate of Plains High School, Mrs. Hogsed was known in the community as being the “Avon Lady” working for the Avon Corporation for over 40 years earning many awards during her tenure. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener where she took pride in growing roses. She was a past member of the Flintstone Camping Club in Americus prior to moving to Atlanta in 2012. She was of strong faith and a member of the Plains Methodist Church for most of her life. Her greatest gift was her devotion to family and friends and she was known by many for her compassion to others, always helping anyone in need. Survivors include her two daughters, one son-in-law, and one daughter in-law: Wanda Horne of Savannah, Georgia, Vickie Smith & Mike Smith of Ponte Vedra, Florida, and Elaine Hogsed of Leesburg, Georgia; four sisters: Betty Fussell, Margaret Cook, Sandra Durham, and Linda Flournoy; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and multiple nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hogsed was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Allman Hogsed; her two sons: George Allman Hogsed & James Edward Hogsed; a son in law & granddaughter: Ralph Glenn Horne and Shelley Horne; three brothers: Alton Knight, Charles Knight & Jimmy Knight; and two sisters: Dorothy Knight Womack & Barbara Knight Harbuck.
