Nancy Kaylor Miller

January 27, 1931 — September 18, 2024

Nancy Kaylor Miller, a beloved resident of DeSoto, Georgia, passed away peacefully, on September 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, community service, and dedication to her family. Born in DeSoto, GA to the late Benjamin Franklin Kaylor and Carolyn Louise Harvey Kaylor, Nancy lived a life rooted in family, faith, and service. She is survived by her half-aunt, Barbara Harvey Mitchell.

Nancy graduated from Union High School in Leslie, Georgia, and continued her education at South Georgia College for Women. She was a proud charter member of both the Town and Country Garden Club and the Americus Sumter County Hospital Auxiliary. A dedicated leader, she organized the first Girl Scout troop in Leslie, Georgia, and served on the Kinchafoonee Girl Scout Board, shaping the lives of countless young women. Her commitment to the community extended to her service on both the Kinchafoonee and Lee County Library Boards. A devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church of Americus since 1950, Nancy was an active participant in the Women of the Church and served as a cherished Sunday school teacher for many years. Her deep-rooted faith and commitment to service were also evident in her involvement with the Americus Council of Safety Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Edward Miller. Together, they raised four daughters, each of whom carries on her legacy of love, strength, and kindness: Kay Miller Crawford (Steve) of Destin, FL; Julie Miller Schroeder (Jess) of Woodstock, GA; Mandy Miller Ennis (Temple) of Livingston, AL; and Lanie Miller Kent (Sam) of Birmingham, AL. Nancy was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren: Cathy Crawford Griffin, Chris Crawford (Heather), Justin Schroeder (Alison), Tempie Ennis, Robby Kent, Teddy Kent, and Callie Kent, and two great-grandchildren, Penny Schroeder and Caroline Schroeder. Her family and friends will remember Nancy for her warmth, her devotion to her community, and her nurturing spirit.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the First Presbyterian Church of Americus between the hours of 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM in the fellowship hall. The funeral service will immediately follow in the chapel, beginning at 3:00PM with Rev. Sommer Bower officiating. A private graveside burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Americus 125 South Jackson Street, Americus Ga 31709, Phoebe Sumter Hospice PO Box 1434 Americus, GA 31709, or the Mattie Marshall Memory Care Activity Fund, 2001 South Lee Street Road Americus, GA 31709.
