Mr. Paul Ernest Preskitt, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services with full military honors are planned for 2:00 PM on Friday, April 14, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Mr. Gordon Duff officiating. The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: London Bass, Preskitt Castleberry, Cole Bell, Robert Graham, Shaun Grimes, and Cecil Bell. The family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 1:00 PM at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. Born April 25, 1932 in Coosa, GA, he was a son of the late John Ernest Preskitt and the late Cora Ward Law. Mr. Preskitt was a self-employed mason working in construction, and was a member of First Christian Church. He was a member of M.B. Council Lodge No. 13, Free and Accepted Masons, and a member of Al Sihah Shrine Temple. Mr. Preskitt was retired as Captain from the United States Army, having served for 20 years between 1949 and 1969, including service during the Korean War and the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Victoria Rose Preskitt Welch; by a grandson, Thomas Matthew Castleberry and his wife Farrah Johnson Castleberry; and by a step-brother Buddy Law. Survivors include his wife, Rosa Cox Preskitt; son Stephen Preskitt (Cindy); daughters: Paula Preskitt Hanks (Charles) and Jan Preskitt Parker (Gary); grandchildren: Mandi Castleberry Bass (Robert Graham), Stephanie Preskitt Grimes (Shaun), Laura Leigh Bell (Cecil), and Bryan Parker (Jaime); great-grandchildren: London Bass (Skyla), Ashlyn Bass, Preskitt Castleberry and his adopted parents, Rhydon and Amy Mays, Bella Parker, Zoe Bell, and Cole Bell; a great-great-grandson to be, Kolton Preskitt Bass; sister Martha Spence; step-sister Cheryl Smith (Gerald); personal care giver Marsha Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
