Mr. Phillip Earl Dale, age 74, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at his home in Dawson with his devoted wife Janice and his family by his side. Funeral services with military honors are planned for 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 15, in the committal pavilion at Andersonville National Historic Site with Rev. Wesley Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery. As Andersonville National Park Service time permits, the family will greet friends following the services in the committal pavilion. Born December 22, 1947 in Dawson, he was a son of the late Lucious Dale and the late Rebecca Medlock Dale. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he served in the Viet Nam War, having attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a self-employed farmer like his father before him, and he enjoyed hunting during deer season, fishing, and eating his mother’s cooking. He especially loved being with his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years, Janice Melton Dale; children: Amy Rebekah Hansen (Rodney), April English Esway (Joe), and William Eric Thomas (Leah); grandchildren: Emma Hansen, Lilah Hansen, Jacob Esway (Makayla), Savannah Esway, Austin James Thomas, and Gannon Thomas; siblings: Willard Dale (Mary), Jan Jones (Don), Terry Roberts (Roe), and Tammy Brown (Wesley).
