Mr. Robert Bunion Hale, age 82, passed away on Sunday evening, August 8, 2021, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A visitation with viewing is planned for 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 14, at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A private burial will follow. Born June 28, 1939 in Plains, he was a son of the late Bob Hale and the late Lucille Bryant Hale. He was retired as a truck driver for Reeves Construction Company and had served in the police department in Leslie, and as chief of police in Plains. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dixie Ruth Coogle Hale; and by three brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his children: Jimmy Hale (Rhonda), Pat Westbury, Eric McElroy, Scarlette Harper (Jerry), and Colleen Johnston (Sonny); eleven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
