Ronnie Lee Ranew

Mr. Ronnie Lee Ranew, age 67, passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. Funeral services are planned for 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 27, at Saint John's Anglican Church with Rev. Jim Barton, Rector, officiating. The family will receive friends following the services. Born November 5, 1955 in Americus, he was the only child of the late Robert Ranew and the late Ramona Robinson Ranew. He was a PhD Candidate from Auburn University and worked as a special education teacher in the Sumter County School System. He was a lover of books and history, and was a genealogist. He was 1/4 Cherokee Native American, and he enjoyed learning about the Cherokee heritage in the Apalachian Mountains. He was a Christian of the Episcopal faith. Survivors include two sons, Ezra Ranew and David Ranew.
