Ruth Ann Landers Millwood

Ruth Ann Landers Millwood, a resident of Lee County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Leesburg and a longtime resident of Americus, passed away on November 4, 2024.

Born in Sumter County on March 6, 1942, Ruth lived a life marked by resilience, faith, and devotion to her family. At the age of 8, she was diagnosed with polio, yet she faced every challenge with courage and grace. Her steadfast faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life, guiding her through adversity and shaping her dedication to helping others.

She was a faithful member of the Assembly of God in Americus for many years, finding strength and community in her faith. At Lee County Health and Rehabilitation Center, she enjoyed fellowship with friends and found joy in church services, playing cards, and Bingo, bringing warmth and kindness to everyone she met.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Millwood, who passed away in July of 2021. They shared nearly 60 wonderful years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Oneida Landers, and her sister, Mary Louise Hartsfield. Ruth is survived by her daughter, Gloria Koopal, and her husband, Bob; her son, Bobby Millwood; her grandchildren, Emily Smith and her husband Justin, and Will Koopal and his wife Alyssa; her great-grandchildren, Olivia and Davis Smith, and Luke and Emma Koopal; and her brother, Larry Landers. Her roommate and longtime friend, Gay Sheffield, also survives. 

Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., on November 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM with a private burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gideons International or the Salvation Army.

Ruth’s family and friends will miss her deeply, forever cherishing the love, strength, and joy she brought into their lives.
