Scott James Marks

Scott James Marks, 65, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 19, 2021 at his home in New Brighton, PA. Born April 9, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a son of the late Deane Edward and Clare Marie (Rodrigue) Marks, Scott was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving at the end of the Vietnam War from 1974 to 1979 aboard the USS O’Brien. He retired from The Timken Company and faithfully attended the First Presbyterian Church of New Brighton. Scott was a gentle, kind, and loving man who led a life of service to his family, church, and his community. His quiet and humble nature made him content to go without recognition, but the reach of his generosity stretches farther than we could imagine. A gifted handyworker, anyone who met him quickly learned Scott could build or fix anything. He was often found co-leading the Upper Room Table and Bunkbed Ministry building tables, benches, and bunk beds for families in need, teaching a beginner’s Woodworking Class for EZANA Camps for children or crafting homemade wooden banks. He also spent time in service on a Mission Trip in Slidell, LA primarily constructing a house and guiding other workers. With his tireless dedication and work ethic, Scott never missed a day of work in 40 years but thoroughly enjoyed his free time relaxing with simple pleasures in life - collecting military memorabilia, time outdoors in Glacier National Park and Alaska, weekends spent cheering for the Green Bay Packers and Navy football teams - and his lifelong love of the Circus made his eyes light up each time they came to town. Time spent with his family laughing and telling stories around the chiminea were among his favorite moments. He is survived by his wife of 17 years Adele (Ammon) Ridgley-Marks, and their children Capt. Jessica Rose Marks (Luke), USAF, Deanna Eileen Marks (Kala), Albany, NY, Michael Tae Marks, Freedom, Noah Kee Marks, Highland Park, NJ, Don Ridgley (Sheri), Fombell, Ron Ridgley (Rebecca), Chesapeake Beach, MD, Mark Ridgley (Casey), Venice, FL, Kristie Sterling (Steve), Bowie, MD, grandchildren Austin, Logan, Shanna, Nash, Landon, Sloan, Carson and Charlotte, two sisters Candace Martin, WI, Vanessa Burnham, GA, brother Deane Marks, WI, and several nieces and nephews. A family graveside service will be held on Monday, December 27, at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, GA with Military Funeral Honors.
