Shirley Rogers Hopkins

Mrs. Shirley Rogers Hopkins, age 88, passed away Thursday morning, November 9, 2023 at her home in Americus, GA. A visitation will be held at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S Lee St., on Friday, November 17, 2023 from 9:30am to 11:30am. Following the visitation, a funeral procession will leave for Andersonville National Cemetery where a graveside service will be held at 12:00pm, officiated by Damon Roberts. Born October 26, 1935 in Wrightsville, GA. Shirley was the daughter of the late Ruby Dixon McCoy. She was a long-time member of the Pilot Club as well as a member of Central Baptist Church. She retired after dedicating many years of service to Lake Blackshear Regional Library. She is survived by her two daughters Linda McAfee (Wayne) of Plains, GA., Tracy Brantley (Darrell) of Gray, GA and son Daniel Rogers of Americus, GA; her sister Sandra Mansell of Lubbock, Tx; grandchildren: Rebecca McAfee Hudson(Tim), April McAfee Dodson(John), Stephanie McAfee Tetter(Wes), Jennifer McAfee Jones (Wiley), Heather Gay Brewer (Jay), Bobby Gay (Danielle), Amber Brantley, and Josh Brantley; great grandchildren: Blake Hudson, Jacob Hudson, Noah Hudson, Haleigh Dodson Thorpe(Dillon), Logan Dodson (Marissa), Waylin Tetter, Will Jones, Anna Jones, Cole Brewer, Caleb Brewer, Elaina Gay, Zoe Gay, Brett Brantley; great-great grandchildren: Levi Dodson, Jaxon Thorpe, and Olivia Thorpe; nephews Richard Damon Roberts(Jessie) and Buster Cooper(Crystal). Along with her mother, Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Andrew David Hopkins, her brother, Hugh D Cooper and his wife Ruby, her great-grandchild, Chrislee Gay and nephew, Greg Roberts.
