Talbert Maurice Walker

Talbert Maurice Walker, 53, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025 at his home in Doerun, Georgia. 

Tal was born on August 10, 1971 in Tifton, Georgia. He was the son of the late Mordecai “Deke” Walker and Irene Manning Walker. He worked with his father’s crop-dusting business for over twenty years where his love for flying blossomed. He loved his father dearly and wanted to follow in his footsteps in flying. His favorite interests were flying and talking but especially talking. He never met a stranger and if he did, they were not strangers for long. He worked for Colquitt Ag in Doerun, Georgia for 17 years.

The love of his life was Tonya, who has been by his side for over three years. During a time when Tonya was ill, Tal expressed that God had sent Tonya to him and he hoped he was not going to take her back. He loved his family but was very proud of his son Aiden. Aiden, who is so full of life and his zest for learning about guitars, music and fire trucks, always brought a smile to Tal.

He is survived by his loving wife, Tonya walker; his son, Aiden Walker; his stepson, Adam Henry; his mother, Irene Walker; his sister, Tabatha Peshel; his brother, Kai Walker; his niece, Ansleigh Peshel; his nephew, Riley Peshel; his sister-in-law, Teresa Beckum and her husband Dewayne; his brother-in-law, Floyd Duke and his wife Alice; as well as some aunts and uncles.

Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his brother, Micah Walker; his paternal grandparents, Jimmy Lee and Lillie Mae Walker; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Mary Hall; and his grandparents, Cleveland and Rosalee Manning.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 8, beginning at 2:00PM in the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee Street, officiated by James Burke. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour before the service, from 1:00PM to 2:00PM. Burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery following the service.
