Mrs. Virginia Lee Harris Roberts, age 80, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 2022 at her home. Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM Friday, April 8, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St. A private interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a short time following the service on Friday at Hancock Funeral Home. Born June 30, 1941 in Webster County, she was a daughter of the late William Henry Harris and the late Willie Lee Cooper Harris. She was a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church, and next to her relationship with God, taking care of her family was the most important part of her life. She loved her farm animals and cats, plants and flowers, reading, and the color orange. She specially enjoyed cooking for her family, and prepared three meals a day every day. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Eugene Roberts; and by two brothers and two sisters: Marvin Harris, June Turner, Bill Harris, and Florence Blanton. Survivors include two sons: Martin Scott Roberts (Wanda Gail) of Plains, and Darren Kelly Roberts of Americus; two grandchildren: Danielle Roberts and Nicholas Roberts, both of Americus; two brothers: Ben Harris and Howard Harris (Beverly); several nieces and nephews; and she was a loving mother figure to too many to list. Flowers are welcome, and for those wishing to do so, memorial contributions are suggested to Phoebe Sumter Hospice, 126 E. Furlow St., Americus, GA 31709.
