William “Howard” Holloway, Sr. age 97 passed peacefully on February 21, 2025. Born June 13,
1927, in Andersonville, GA he was the son of the late Lucius Ballard Holloway and Harriet
Arizonia Lashley. A man of faith, Mr. Holloway was a dedicated member of Lee Street United
Methodist Church. When he could no longer drive to attend church in Americus he returned to
his parents’ home church Andersonville United Methodist Church. He was engaged in many
social activities at both.
As a farmer in Sumter and surrounding counties he helped establish Fresh Farm Produce, then
later, with his brother Leon, Holloways Vegetable House in Andersonville. He had many great
stories of his long life over the years. His children were always learning something new because
there was always a story to tell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life for 70 years, his wife,
Jacqueline Pittman Holloway, son-in-law Don Bohn and his siblings.
Survivors include his children: Gem Holloway Price (Barry), Gay Holloway Bohn, William
H.”Guy” Holloway, Jr (Janie), Glen Holloway (Amy) and L. Emmett Holloway (Gail);
Grandchildren: Heather Worth (Kevin), Brandon Price (Rachel), Chad Bohn, Tara VanOrder
(Bob), Casey Bohn (Angie), Shea Wade (Nick), William H. “Will” Holloway III (Victoria),
Benjamin Holloway, Nicklas Kansagrad (Brittany), Carey Freiler (Rickey), Chandler Holloway
(Mary Catherine), Blake Braswell, Collin Holloway (Katherine), Bowen Braswell (Taylor)
Great Grandchildren: Kalie Roe, Kyndal Worth, Gabriel Price, Bryce VanOrder, Ian VanOrder,
Holly VanOrder, Collier VanOrder, Graeme VanOrder, Holden VanOrder, Brylie Bohn, Brody
Bohn, River Wade, Avery Wade, Willow Wade, Aubrey Kansagrad, Nicklas Kansagrad,
Chavigny Freiler, Charlcie Freiler, Finn Holloway, Garner Braswell, Holt Holloway, Charli
Holloway, Blakely Braswell, Buck Braswell; Great-great Grandchildren: Maveryck Roe and
Amelia Roe; brother-in-law Asa Pittman II (Ward), sister-in-law Ginger Frazier (Gene) and
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 25, at Lee Street Methodist Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church, beginning at 10:00 AM. A private family interment will follow in Ellaville Cemetery.
