Rex C. Reeves

Mr. Rex C. Reeves, age 83, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018, at his home in Americus.Funeral services are planned for 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 4, from the chapel of Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St., with Ricky Smarr officiating.  The family will receive friends between the hours of 10:00 & 11:00 AM on Thursday at the funeral home, and at other times at the family home, 108 Harper Subdivision.  Interment will be private, in Sunset Memorial Gardens.A native of Sumter County, he was born June 4, 1935, son of the late Preston Alfred Reeves and the late Zelma Parker Reeves.  Mr. Reeves was a retired truck driver, having worked at Reeves Construction in Americus. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.  Mr. Reeves was a faithful caregiver to his beloved wife, Dorothy.  He loved everyone he met. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in June of this year, a son, Terry Reeves; a grandson, Jeffery Smith, Jr.; and two brothers: William R. Parker and James P. Reeves.Survivors include one son, Steve Reeves (Shelia); daughter Dianne Reeves Smith (Jeffery); grandchildren: Brian Reeves, Brandon Reeves, Lindsey Underwood, Josh Reeves, Kyle Reeves, Tim Reeves, and Jeremy Smith; six great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and many friends.For those wishing to do so, memorial contributions are suggested to a charity of one's choice.To sign our online guestbook and express your condolences to the family, please visit www.hancockfuneralhomeinc.comHancock Funeral Home, 427 S.
